Floyd J. Chrapliwy

June 20, 1932 – May 15, 1997

Floyd J. “Sharp” Chrapliwy, 64, of Grant Road, South Bend IN, died at 10:34pm on Thursday, May 15, in St Joseph’s Medical Center.

He was born on June 20, 1932, in South Bend, and lived in this area all of his life.

Mr. Chrapliwy retired in 1974 from the South Bend Police Department, and was a security guard for Oprah Winfrey’s farm in Rolling Prairie IN.  He was also the co-owner of Uncle Floyd’s Place in Niles MI.

On August 30, 1958, in South Bend, he married Jo Ann Krojniewski, who survives.  He is also survived by a daughter, Judith (Dale, SR ) Kujawa of South Bend; a son, Michael Chrapliwy of South Bend; five grandchildren; a step grandson; and by a sister, Elaine Robinson of Goshen IN.

Mr. Chrapliwy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36, Masonic Lodge F & AM 294, Veteran of Foreign Wars 9820, Scottish Rite, Orak Temple of Michigan City IN and the National Rifle Association.

Friends may call from 2 to 8pm on Sunday in the St Joseph Funeral Home.

Services will be at 11am on Monday in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.
