John S. Chrisman  

John S. Chrisman, 72, of 60069 S. Main St., former Centre Twp. assessor, died at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Chrisman retired as a machinist at Bendix Corp. He was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Denver, Colo., moving to South Bend in 1943, coming from Goshen and Millersburg. On July 22, 1939, in Goshen, he married Clara Drake. She survives along with a daughter, Carole Brush of Berrien Springs; two sons Kenneth of Sturgis and Dr. Ray of Midland, Mich; five grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Borst of Stone Park, Ill. A son David, died in 1943.   Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be at  10 a.m. Saturday in Violett Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Fir day in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.  He was a member of Crest Manor Church of the Brethren, American Legion Post 284, and Bendix Retirees Local 9. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the church of the donor's choice.
