Edwin J. Chrobot: (South Bend Tribune 2/10/2003)
May 6, 1915 - Feb. 7, 2003 Edwin J. Chrobot, age 87, of South Bend, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 in Hospice House of South Bend. Edwin was born in South Bend on May 6, 1915 to John and Stella (Borlik) Chrobot who preceded him in death. In 1942 Edwin married Hattie Mroczkiewicz who passed away in 1974. In 1976 Edwin married Alice Sisti who also preceded him in 2000. Preceding him in death were his two sons, John and Joseph Chrobot; five sisters, Helen Shoemaker, Genevieve lophenstein, Tillie Szymanski, Gertrude Papai and Esther Chrobot as well as one brother, Raymond Chrobot. Edwin is survived his son, Edwin "Skip" Chrobot of Indianapolis, Sharon (Robert) Balint of Walkerton, Robert (Margaret) Blasczyk of Newark, Ohio., and Richard (Marla) Sisti of South Bend. Also surviving is Edwin's brother, John (Bernice) Chrobot of South Bend; thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Edwin worked at Studebaker for many years and retired in 1976 from the Lumber Specialties as a supervisor. Edwin was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member o the VFW, the Crumstown Conservation Club and the Edwardsburg Conservation Club.
Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A rosary will be said Monday at 6 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m., Feb. 11, 2003 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
