Eugene Mathew Chrobot

SOUTH BEND - Eugene Mathew Chrobot, 80, of St. Paul, Minnesota, formerly a long-time resident of South Bend, Indiana, passed away of complications of kidney and Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Sholom Home East in St. Paul, Minnesota. Eugene was born on June 10, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Mathew and Harriett Chrobot.

 

On October 14, 1950, in South Bend, he married Gertrude Frydrych. She survives with one daughter, Beth Anne (Steven) Claas, all of whom live in St. Paul, Minnesota. Eugene was preceded in death by his sister, Adele M. Popielski. Eugene was employed for 30 years by Dodge Manufacturing/Reliance Engineering of Mishawaka, Indiana, and retired from Deck Manufacturing of Granger, Indiana, in 1998. Gene was an enthusiastic Notre Dame football fan and loved to spoil a good walk by playing a round of golf. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of St. Cecilia's in St. Paul, Minnesota, in early June. Memorials in Eugene's name may be sent to your local hospice organization or to Catholic Charities. Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN is handling arrangements.
