Walter Alexander Chrobot

March 16, 1912 - April 28, 2000

Walter "Red" Chrobot, 88, of Bonds Avenue in South Bend, Ind., joined God to share in His glory and happiness on Friday, April 28, after an extended illness in his home. Born on March 16, 1912, in South Bend, to Francis and Leocadia Grzesk Chrobot, he married Martha Kalicki on Nov. 28, 1935.

 

She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Norman (Vicki) of Elkhart, Ind., Emery (Chris) of Osceola, Ind., and Randall (Loretta) of South Bend. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Deanna of South Bend, Emily and Tonya of Elkhart, Ryan and Erich of Indianapolis, Ind., Andy of Osceola and Donna Chrobot-Mason of Littleton, Colo. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Clem and Henry; and by a sister, Helen. He was a lifelong resident of the area, and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. A former owner of the Brass Rail and active in the West Side Democratic Club, Walter retired from the City of South Bend, after which he continued working at Harry's Liquor Store.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Officiating at the funeral Mass will be the Rev. Leonard Chrobot, Rev. Ronald Trippi and Rev. Ben Ginther.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Walter's family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers. We are grateful to Hospice for all their help.
