Casimir J. Ciesielski

SOUTH BEND - Casimir J. Ciesielski, 86, passed away after a brief illness on March 30th in Saint Joseph Hospital. Casimir was a lifelong resident of this area. He was born on January 7, 1922, to Rose and Stanley Ciesielski.

 

On May 23, 1948, he married Emma Marie Dhaene in Sacred Heart Belgian Church. He is survived by his wife, Emma; and two daughters, Pamela Horvath of South Bend and Dr. Carol Ciesielski of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and a granddaughter, Angela Horvath of Gulfport, FL. He is also survived by two brothers, Louis of South Bend and Jim of Granger; and three sisters, Verna Kuspa and Mary Gapczynski, both of South Bend, and Dorothy Kozlowski of LaPorte. Three brothers, Joseph, Harry and William, preceded him in death. He was in the Air Force during World War II, serving in India and China. He was a member of American Legion Post 357, Veterans of Foreign Wars 8748, and St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He loved gardening, playing cards, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He greatly enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Duffy. He worked at Studebaker for 22 years, and retired from Allied Products in 1987 after 23 years. He belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
