MISHAWAKA - Dorothy L. Ciula, 66, passed away after an illness at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in her daughter's residence on James Court in North Liberty, Ind. Dorothy was born on Feb. 24, 1932, in Mishawaka, Ind., as the daughter of the late Hector and Erma (DeBaets-Beckaert) Vervaet. She was a lifetime area resident. Dorothy was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ginnie Vervaet in 1989, Irene Kohler in 1990 and Gloria Kepler in 1997.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Zupancic of North Liberty; two sons, Stephen (Christine) Ciula and David ''Louie'' (Kathleen) Ciula, both of Granger, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Amy Ciula, Laurie Ciula, Matthew Ciula, Amanda Zupancic, Melanie Hammond, Kenneth Hammond and Theresa Hammond; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Ciula and Cody Anderson; and by a brother, Cyriel A. (Betty) Vervaet of South Bend.

 

Dorothy was employed by the Ridge Company, South Bend, for 25 years. She was a member of P.N.A. #83, and St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a wake prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
