SOUTH BEND - Services for Mary Jo Ciula, 72, of Greenview Avenue, who died at 1:15 a.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital after an illness, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3402 Lincoln Way W., where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Ciula retired from J.C. Penney Co. after 22 years of service. She was born Nov. 18, 1922, in South Bend.
On Oct. 7, 1944, in South Bend, as Mary Jo Herman, she married Chester Ciula. He survives with a daughter, Susan McFarland of Niles; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Estelle Predovich of Mishawaka and Christine Birkenhauer of Wilmington, Del.; and a brother, Stanley Herman of Edwardsburg. A son, Robert, died in 1986. She was a member of the church.
