NEW CARLISLE - Bernice Sarah Clark, 87, of Lynn Street, died at 2:33 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Clark was born Feb. 8, 1907, in Lewis, Ind.
On Jan. 21, 1926, as Bernice Barley, she married Russell A. Clark. He died Aug. 3, 1986. She is survived by three daughters, Sarah Mesaros of South Bend, Eldonna Runnels of New Carlisle and Lillian Zink of Moriarty, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Myrtle Holbert of Mishawaka and Mary Coan of Harviell, Mo. A daughter, Mildred J. Clark, and two sons, Vernon and Thomas, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Olive Chapel United Church of Christ, War Mothers, American Legion Post 297 Auxiliary, Kitchen Kin Club and St. Joseph County Farm Bureau.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St. Burial will be in Olive Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to New Carlisle Fire Department, New Carlisle Ambulance Fund or the church.
