Doris Mae Clark

Doris Mae Clark, 92, formerly of 2801 S. Main Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. She was born on Aug. 16, 1911, in Putnam, Ill., to Campbell Monroe and Millie (Folbert) Stephens. Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Jean Clark on July 5, 2003; a sister, Jeanette Owens; and by three brothers, Stacy Roy, Milton and Raymond Stephens.

On March 30, 1931, in Oklahoma, she married Richard Gail Clark, who also preceded her in death on March 4, 1984. In 1968, after 20 years of service, Doris retired from Associates of America. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Gerald R. and Joan Clark of Menominee, Mich., and by Wayne A. and Dona Clark of Mishawaka, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, John Clark, Gail Clark, Stephen Clark, Kurt Clark, Ken Clark, Jim Clark, Linda Techmier, David Clark, Paul Clark and Brian Clark; and by 15 great-grandchildren.

Doris was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of South Bend for over 50 years, the United Methodist Women and the Mary Martha Circle of the church. She was a graduate of the South Bend College of Commerce. In her younger years she enjoyed golfing, and in all of her latter years enjoyed her grandchildren. A special thank you is extended to Southern Care Hospice and to the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center for all of their thoughtful care.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Palmer Funeral Home--River Park, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Hosea Drake, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, National City Bank Building, 310 W. McKinley, #340, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
