Emma Lee Clark

Aug. 17, 1933 - Dec. 19, 1999

Emma Clark, 66, of 3814 Bella Vista Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a short illness on Sunday, Dec. 19, in St. Joseph Care Center-West. Emma was employed by IUSB for 25 years. She retired from there. She was also employed as a domestic worker for Dr. and Mrs. James for 20 years. Emma was a great example of what it was like to have courage. She lived it. She also gave her life to her three sons. Emma Lee Taylor was born on Aug. 17, 1933, in Trenton, Tenn., to the union of O.B. and Annie Lee Taylor, who both preceded her in death. Emma accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Trenton, Tenn. Emma was a graduate of Rosenwald High School.

 

She was united in holy matrimony to Clarence C. Clark in 1952, who preceded her in death. To this union three sons were born. She was also preceded in death by Clarence C. Clark in 1996. Survivors include Fritch C. "Bubble" Clark and Ronald T. Clark, both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Phillip, Lisa and Sheila Clark of South Bend; and four great-grandchildren. She also has three sisters, Dorothy M. Smith of Trenton, Tenn., Martha Boykin of Painesville, Ohio, and Anna B. Reynolds of South Bend who was her caretaker. She had seven nieces and nephews, and a host of special cousins, family and friends. Emma Lee Clark you will be dearly missed. Rest on in peace.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, in Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey Street. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of services.
