Kathryn E. Clark, 86, of 202 N. Gladstone Ave., South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, in St. Joseph Care Center West. Mrs. Clark retired from Koszegi Industries and also had been employed by Ball Band, Hooks Drug Stores in downtown Mishawaka, Ind., and in Belleville Plaza where she was a postal clerk. Kathryn was born on July 31, 1916, in Aurora, Ill., to Herman and Josephine Phillips.

 

On May 19, 1951, in South Bend she married Richard I. Clark. He died on July 21, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Phillips, and his wife, Margaret. Surviving are a daughter, Victoria M. (Rodney) Wood of South Bend; two sons, Gregory I. (Tammy) Clark of Dillon, Mo., and Edward L. (Jynette) Bueche' of Hanceville, Ala.; six grandchildren, Lori Wood, Stacey Wood, Gregory Wood, Kaitlin Clark, Ian Clark, and Teri Bueche'; and a niece, Marcia (Kenneth) Matthys of South Bend.

 

Kathryn loved Notre Dame football and Indiana University basketball. Bob Knight was her favorite coach. She liked to do word books and travel. Her favorite place was Hubbell, Mich., where she would visit her friend Annie Ullery. When at home, she loved to sit and watch the yellow finches at her bird feeder.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
