Corwin Charles Cleary

July 25, 1977 - March 31, 1999

Corwin Charles "Corey" Cleary, 21, was born on July 25, 1977, in South Bend, Ind. He was diagnosed with a heart defect shortly after birth and had many surgeries. Despite his physical difficulties he continued his schooling and life in general. He enjoyed movies, eating, downhill snow skiing, target shooting and swing dancing. Corey graduated from Clay High School in 1996, then attended Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, Colo., for a year before going to Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fla., where he successfully completed a course for Emergency Medical Technician. After a month-long illness, Corey died on Wednesday, March 31, 1999. Burial was at All Faith Cemetery in Orlando. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Cleveland Charles (Ginger) Cleary, M.D., in Granger, Ind.; his mother, Kay Lorraine Wurz, RN, of Winter Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Melinda Kristin Cleary of Bloomington, Ind., and Shelby Anne Cleary of North Hollywood, Calif.; maternal grandparents, Charles R. and Marilyn M. Wurz of Niles, Mich.; and by his paternal grandmother, Pansy Cleary of Niles.

 

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, in Granger Missionary Church, Granger, Ind., for family and friends. A memorial fund has been set up in his name with the Make- a-Wish Foundation, and tax deductible contributions may be sent directly to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois, 640 North LaSalle, Suite 280, Chicago, IL 60610. The Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Orlando, Fla., handled arrangements.
