Roberta F. Clewell

MISHAWAKA - Roberta Clewell, 79, of Mishawaka, passed away on Sunday, April 11th 2010, with her family by her bedside at the Golden Living Center in Elkhart, IN. Roberta was born on August 30, 1930, in Mt. Carmel, IL, to the late Samuel and Gladys Marie (Struble) Weiler Warner. As the former Roberta Weiler, she married John G. Clewell on August 31, 1946, in Mishawaka. John passed away in December 2004. Survivors include Roberta's two daughters, Janice (Michael R.) Conrad of Elkhart, IN, and Sharon (Henry S.) Duignan of Sanibel, FL; and a son, Michael (Kathleen) Clewell of Monroe, N.C. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth C. Arrowsmith of Churubusco, IN, and Ramona (Albert) VanHoecke of Mishawaka, IN; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Weiler of Lakeville, IN. Roberta was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Ramona Clewell, who passed away in 1955, and Carla Clewell, who passed away in 1964, a sister, Retha Culver, who passed away in 1970, and a brother, Jayhu (Marilyn's husband) Weiler, who passed away in 2006, all preceded Roberta in death. Roberta retired as a private nurse's aide. She was a former member of the First Church of God in Mishawaka. Roberta enjoyed baking and listening to old-time comedy programs on the radio during her younger years. Roberta loved and cherished her family and grandchildren most of all. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 14th, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. in Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15th, in the funeral home, with Pastor Andrea Hickey of The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
