Howard William Clingenpeel

Howard William Clingenpeel, 89, of 30950 Leeper Road, North Liberty, passed away March 22, 2003, in his home.

 

Howard was born June 6, 1913, in Carroll County, Indiana, to the late Charles and Ruth (Allen) Clingenpeel. He was one of seven children.

 

Howard was married to Selma M. Burmeister on September 3, 1938. She survives, along with a daughter, Bonnie Veitch of Green Bay, Wis., and a son, Thomas L. of North Liberty. Howard is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one sister, Marjorie Wolff of Union Mills.

 

Howard lived in this area for 51 years, coming from Etna Green, Indiana. He was a retired farmer. Howard was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at LaPorte, Walkerton Lions Club, served on the Walkerton School Board, and served on the St. Joseph County Fair Board.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. James Beversdorf officiating.

 

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marshall County Hospice or the St. John's Lutheran Church at LaPorte.
