John L. Close, Jr., 36, of Front Street, New Carlisle, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1962, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Judith (Johnson) and the late John L. Close, Sr., who preceded him in death in 1980.

On Aug. 4, 1979, John married the former Kimberly Clevenger, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Angela M. and Christa N. Close of New Carlisle; a son, Douglas B. Close of New Carlisle; his mother and stepfather, James and Judith Kedik of South Bend, Ind.; two sisters, Kimberly Bell and Deborah Ruth of Mishawaka; a stepsister, Melissa Kedik of Niles, Mich.; a brother, Bruce Close of Mishawaka; a stepbrother, Gerald Graser of Mishawaka; a grandmother, Marjorie Overlander of Knox, Ind.; and by his mother-in- law, Florence Clevenger of South Bend.

John had been employed by the Acme Service Corporation in South Bend.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where friends may visit with John's family one hour prior to services.

Interment will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to John's family to help defray the costs of his children's education.
