SOUTH BEND - Daniel M. Coleman, 57, of Bedford Township, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died Tuesday in Battle Creek (Mich.) Health Systems. Mr. Coleman retired in 1990 from the Federal Aviation Administration as air traffic controller and tower manager at Kellogg Airport and also worked 16 years at Michiana Regional Airport. He currently was a Battle Creek school bus driver.

He was born Dec. 21, 1937, in South Bend. On Dec. 27, 1956, in South Bend, he married Julie M. Jefferson. She survives with two daughters, Kimberly K. Coleman and Kelly C. Sajtar, both of Battle Creek; three sons, Daniel L. of Fruitport, Mich., David M. of Spring Lake, Mich., and Scott R. of Bellevue, Mich.; six grandchildren; and his mother, Marjory P. Coleman of Battle Creek. He was a graduate of Marcellus High School.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bachman Hebble Funeral Chapel, Battle Creek. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Ross Township, Mich. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Urbandale Elementary School Playground Fund, Battle Creek.
