Marjory P. Coleman, 87, of Battle Creek, formerly of Lake Placid, Florida, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Mercy Pavilion.

 

She was born November 21, 1915, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Marlow and Hazel (Bymaster) Grose. She attended Riley High School in South Bend. She married Claude Coleman, September 1, 1935, in Elkhart, Indiana, he preceded her in death in March of 1985.

 

Marjory was a homemaker most of her life, but had worked at Heddons Manufacturing in Dowogiac for eleven years, starting in factory assembly and then the shipping office. She also had worked at First Community Savings in Cassopolis for two years in the proofing department. Marjory was an avid reader, she liked crocheting, knitting, canning, traveling and caring for her thirteen cats that all lived with her at the same time. At the age of 75, Marjory went white water rafting in Montana. Her family was very important to her. She made her home in Volinia, Michigan, from 1956-1985 and for sixteen years she lived summers in Volinia and winters in Lake Placid, Florida.

 

She is survived by her granddaughters, Kelly (Gene) Dehnel of Wausau, Wisconsin, Kimberly Coleman of Marshall; grandsons, Scott R. (Mary Jo) Coleman of Battle Creek, David M. (LeeAnn) Coleman of Spring Lake, Michigan, Daniel (Lori) Coleman of Fruitport, Michigan; sister, June Burroughs of South Bend, and six great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Daniel Coleman, Allen Coleman; great-grandson, Chad Coleman; brothers, Eldon Grose, James Grose, sister, Jeannie Ewing; daughter-in-law, Julie M. Coleman.

 

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, with Pastor Mark Black officiating.
