Ruth D. Cole

December 28, 1907 – February 24, 1990

Ruth D. Cole, 82, of Valparaiso, formerly of South Bend, died at 11:30am Saturday in Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso.  She was the retired owner of Steno-Call Answering Service, Valparaiso.

Born December 28, 1907, in Gladbrook IA, she had lived in Valparaiso since 1968.  On April 6, 1927, in South Bend, as Ruth Brainerd, she married Herbert G. Cole, who died January 16, 1963.  Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Miller of Redding CA, and Marilyn Driver of Milford MI; a son, John of Salt Lake City UT; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Zoe Headley of South Bend and Jane Zamdell of Hot Springs AR.  Mrs. Cole was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No 569

Services will be at 1pm Tuesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S Ironwood Drive. Burial will be at St Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 5 to 9pm Monday in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Whispering Pines Nursing Home or to St Andrews Episcopal Church, Valparaiso.
