Marjorie L. Comegys

Marjorie Lucille Comegys, 87, of Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa, Ind., passed away at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16.

She was born and raised in Star City, Ind., to Roscoe and Delana (Long) Davis on Sept. 29, 1917. As a young woman, Marjorie moved to South Bend and graduated from the South Bend College of Commerce and worked as a Secretary at Studebaker Corporation. On Feb. 2, 1942, Marjorie married Wesley Edward Comegys, who survives.

They have three children, Gregory L. (Jennifer) Comegys of Caledonia, Mich., Sharon L. (Larry) Huemmer of Mishawaka and Linda (Jeffery) Chapman of Fernandina Beach, Fla. They have seven grandchildren, Miriam (Bob) Taylor, Heather (Dan) VanHuis, Rachael Comegys, Patrick Huemmer and Andrew (Erika) Huemmer, Korey Chapman and Kirk Chapman; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ainslee Taylor, Benjamin, Haley and Maxwell VanHuis and Hannah Rose Huemmer. Surviving is a sister, Vaunda Annabel (Robert) Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio.

Her parents and a brother, Chester Arden, preceded her in death.

Marjorie was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Ed loved to dance and had belonged to the Ro-ma-rounds Dance Club for many years. After Edward's retirement they went to Brownsville, Texas, for the winter months for 15 years before Marjorie became ill with Alzheimer's.

The Comegys family would like to thank Miller's Merry Manor for all their loving care given to Marjorie and Edward.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., and one hour prior to services Monday, Feb. 21, which will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
