MISHAWAKA - Services for Donald M. Compton, 87, of Battell Street, who died at 8:35 p.m. Monday in Harborview Nursing Home, Moorehead, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennway Church of God or any charity.

Mr. Compton retired from Reliable Dairy in 1970 and the University of Notre Dame in 1981. He was born May 8, 1906, in Bourbon and was a lifelong area resident.

In 1942, in Elkhart, he married Ethel Borsch. She died in 1984. On April 26, 1986, he married Natachia L. Hutts. She survives with three stepdaughters, Sheila Brown of Osceola, Linda Strebeck of Pearl, Miss., and Trudy Wagner of Mishawaka; five stepsons, Walter, Charles and Robert Eakins, all of Mishawaka, Patrick Eakins of Syracuse, and Rudy Eakins of Havelock, N.C.; three step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 130, former member of Teamsters Local 234, and past president of South Bend Bowling Association.
