Sister M. Irenee Conlon CSC

Sister M. Irene CSC, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died early today in St. Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, after an extended illness. She was born as Alice Veronica Conlon, in Baltimore, Md., in 1870, the daughter of Andrew J. Conlon and Veronica F. Dunn. Sister Irenee was educated in Baltimore and entered the Congregation of the Sister of Holy Cross in 1899, receiving the habit of the congregation the same year. She made her professional of final vows in 1905.

 

During her community life Sister Irenee was missioned at St. Mary’s Academy, Notre Dame; St. Joseph’s Academy, South Bend; St. Mary’s, Woodstock, Ill., and for several years was in various missiones of the Eastern Province. She came to the convent from the Eastern Province for retirement.

 

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Steveson and Miss Katherine Conlon, and two brothers, Edgar Conlon and Charles Conlon, all of Baltimore.

 

A Requiem High Mass will be sung at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call in the convent parlor.
