Marcella S. Conrad

Oct. 10, 1907 - Feb. 11, 1997

Marcella S. Conrad, 89, of Kentucky Street, passed away at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in St. Joseph Care Center-West.

Mrs. Conrad was employed as a waitress with the former Lincoln Highway Inn in Mishawaka, Ind. She was born on Oct. 10, 1907, in Peru, Ill., and had lived in South Bend, Ind., since 1951, coming from Elkhart, Ind. Mrs. Conrad was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 50, and of the AARP.

On Jan. 1, 1949, in Goshen, Ind., in the First United Methodist Church, as Marcella Keefrey Pursell, she married James E. Conrad, who survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Joan Cossette of South Bend; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A daughter, Lozetta Baker (1961), and a son, Arthur Pursell (Feb. 7, 1987), preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Charles Lavely, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
