Mishawaka obituaries

 

Robert F. Cook

Robert F. Cook, 71, of 427 N. Victoria St., died around noon Wednesday in his home after an illness.  Mr. Cook was senior vice-president of Emmco Insurance Co., division of Associates Investment Co., until retiring in 1976.  He was born July 3, 1914, in Mishawaka and was a life-time area resident.  On May 28, 1938, he married the former Jean Borden in Mishawaka.  She died in 1956.  On Aug. 10, 1957, he married the former Jo Ann Kern in New Carlisle.  She survives with a daughter, Linda Steinmetz of South Bend; a son, Gregory F. of Huntington, Ind.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Harold J. Cook of Mishawaka.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. until the services Saturday in the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of First United Methodist Church, the Hospice Society of St. Joseph County, or Preservations of the Res, P. O. Box 865, Mishawaka.  Mr. Cook was a 1936 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and served on the boards of the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka Lodge 130 Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of South Bend, the Orak Shrine Temple of Michigan City, the South Bend Elks Club and the Notre Dame Club.
