Grace M. Cooney

Grace M. Cooney, 90, formerly of Bridgeton Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, in the Countryside Place Health Care Center, Mishawaka, Ind.

Grace was born on Aug. 20, 1909, in Plymouth, Ind., to the late Martha and Jacob Kizer. On Dec. 17, 1931, as Grace M. Kizer, she married James E. Cooney in Huntington, Ind. He passed away on Dec. 31, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Martindale in September 1939.

Grace is survived by a daughter, Jane B. (Kenland) Martindale of South Bend. Grace has one granddaughter, Beth (Jay) Courtney of South Bend; a grandson, James Martindale of South Bend; and a great-great-granddaughter, Blake Martindale of South Bend.

There will be no visitation. A private graveside service was held in the mausoleum chapel in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Rev. Robert Manning of the Zion United Church of Christ, South Bend, officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.

The Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, handled arrangements.
