Mona Evaline Coons
July 19, 1909 - April 29, 2000
Mona Evaline (Jackway) Coons, 90, of
Highland Drive, South Bend, Ind., died on Saturday morning, April
29, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. Mona retired from
the St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, as a cook and
housekeeper for many years. She was born on July 19, 1909, in
Seville, Ohio, to Walter and Edith (Houghton) Jackway,
who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Ramona Johnson on April 3, 1998.
On Dec. 17, 1930, in South Bend, Mona
married Ralph L. Coons, who died on July 13, 1950. She is
survived by a daughter, Ceilia Ann (Edward) Warapius of
South Bend; a son, Ralph E. Coons of Bristol, Ind.; and by 10
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
on Monday in the Little Flower Catholic Church, with Rev. Donald
Guertin, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Cremation has taken place,
with interment at Constantine, Mich., at a later date. There will
be no visitation. Mona was a member of the Little Flower Catholic
Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little
Flower Church Pantry, 54191 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46635.
