Alfons J. Cooreman

Alfons J. Cooreman, 85, of Roosevelt Road, South Bend, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Dec. 28th in Bremen Health Care Center after an extended illness. Mr. Cooreman was born on May 24, 1919 in St. Joseph County and resided in the Michiana area for his entire life.

 

On June 22, 1940 in South Bend, he married the former Mary Alice Bowman, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter; Linda M. (Wilson) Taylor of Dayton, Ohio; two sons; Charles P. (Donna) Cooreman and Chris J. (Rebecca) Cooreman, both of South Bend. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Al was a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather who deeply loved his family as did they. He was a well known farmer and school bus driver for many years. Mr. Cooreman was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and also the VFW Post 1954 in North Liberty, IN. He was also a dedicated Green Twp. Lions Club member.

 

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 in the Hanley and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral home located at West Ireland Road / Indiana 23 South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31 in the funeral home with Rev. Bernard Galic of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating. Burial to follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Greene Twp. Lions Club. The HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral home handled arrangements and services and extend their deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Cooreman family.
