SOUTH BEND - Mary Jean Coplen, 72, of Glenlake Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 4 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, in her residence. She was born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Mishawaka, Ind., and lived here since 1973, coming from Lake of the Woods, Ind.

 

On Feb. 13, 1946, as Mary Jean Sweeney, she married John D. Coplen, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Dianna J. Coplen of South Bend; a son, Edward R. Coplen of South Bend; three granddaughters, Colleen, Heather and Rachel; six great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Harry Sweeney of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Sweeney, who died in 1993.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home South, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of St. Joseph County, 711 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
