Rev. Charles J. Corcoran CSC, 81, died Friday morning in Holy Cross House at the University of Notre Dame. He was born Jan. 19, 1908, in Portland, Ore. He entered Holy Cross Seminary in 1923 and made his first vows in the congregation July 2, 1926. He made his final vows at Assisi, Italy, in 1929.

 

He received his Ph.D. in philosophy at Gregorian University, Rome, Italy, in 1931. He was ordained in Rome on Dec. 22, 1934, and received his S.T.D. in theology from Gregorian university in 1944.He was professor of theology at Holy Cross College, Washington D.C., from 1936 to 1963, and was superior of Holy Cross House at Notre Dame from 1963 through 1970. He taught theology at the University of Portland (Ore.) from 1970 to 1976, and had lived at Holy Cross House since 1976. Surviving is a sister, Mildred Corcoran of Portland, Ore.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Moreau Seminary at the University of Notre Dame. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. at Moreau Seminary, where a wake will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Community Cemertey.
