SOUTH BEND - Mary M. Couts, 78, of
824 Lancaster Drive, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday in Memorial
Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Couts was born July 8, 1915, in
Jasper, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1956.
On July 20, 1959, in Crawfordsville, Ind.,
as Mary Hammons, she married Everett E. Couts. He
survives, with a stepdaughter, Mary Lee Smith of Florida;
three stepsons, Michael of South Bend and James and Bob, both of
Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister,
Helen Rhine of Indianapolis; and a brother, Junior Hammons
of Indianapolis. A daughter, Barbara Cox, preceded her in
death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in
Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
