OSCEOLA - Rodney "Big Rod" Dee Cowsert, 44, of Osceola, passed away in Memorial Hospital of South Bend on Friday, September 25, 2009, after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Rodney was born May 1, 1965, in South Bend, to Frank and Patricia (Pugh) Cowsert. His mother, Pat, preceded him in death. Surviving are his father, Frank of Osceola; his son, Tyler Cowsert of Mishawaka; his brother, Mickie (Gail) Cowsert of Granger; and his sister, Tammie (Jamie) Shock of Granger. Rodney is survived by one niece, five nephews and one great-niece. Rodney is also survived by his girlfriend, Jeanette Taylor of Mishawaka. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 p.m. following the visitation hours on Monday, Sept. 28, in Chapel Hill. Rodney was employed by Cowsert Septic for many years as an excavator. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, four-wheelers, and spending time on the lake boating and tubing. Rodney's friends were very important in his life, and he enjoyed riding his motorcycles in fundraisers for charity, especially for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
