SOUTH BEND - Rev. William T. Craddick, CSC, 86, of Holy Cross House, died Friday.

 

Rev. Craddick entered the novitiate at Notre Dame on Sept. 15, 1932, where he professed his vows one year later. He made his perpetual profession on July 2, 1937. On June 24, 1939, in Sacred Heart Church, he was ordained a priest and assigned to the University of Notre Dame where he was prefect of religion from 1942 to 1949. In 1949, he was appointed director of novices at Sacred Heart Novitiate until 1961, when he was appointed director of province development. In 1962, he was appointed assistant provincial of the Indiana Province until 1973, when he was appointed director of retirement.

 

In 1977, he was named assistant administrator of Holy Cross House, where he served until his death. He was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Rockford, Ill. Surviving are his brother, John, and two nephews, David and Richard Craddick. He graduated from University of Notre Dame in 1930, with a degree in architecture. He studied theology at Holy Cross College, Washington, D.C.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial will be in Community Cemetery at Notre Dame. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Moreau Seminary. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. until service time in Moreau Seminary. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
