Sister M. Helen Frances Crehan CSC, 90, of Saint Mary’s Convent died there at 8:05 a.m. Saturday. She was born Mary Kathryn Crehan on Oct. 21, 1897 in Anderson, Ind., and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 2, 1917, coming from Anderson. She was received as a novice Jan. 1, 1918 and made her profession of vows on Jan. 6, 1920. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in Salt Lake City, Utah. She served at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, from 1923 to 1929. She was assigned to St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, from 1934 to 1945. She also was a registered medical records administrator and pharmacy assistant, having served in St. Agnes Hospital. Fresno, Calif.; Our Saviour’s Hospital, Jacksonville, Ill.; St. Mary’s Hospital, Cairo, Ill.; and Holy Cross Hospital, Mission Hills Calif. She served as administrator in the hospital and Western Provincial Residence, Ogden, Utah.  She came to St. Mary’s Convent in 1968, serving as pharmacy assistant until 1972, when ill health forced her to retire. There are no immediate survivors

 

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call today at St. Mary’s Convent, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Holy Cross Ministry for the Poor.
