SOUTH BEND – James Charles Cressy, 49, of Rt. 1, Roodhouse, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday morning in the Greene Meadows Nursing Home, White Hall, Ill. after an extended illness. He was a farm-manager-stockman, realtor and a director of the Roodhouse Bank.

 

Born March 23, 1926 in South Bend, he married Jacqueline Gilmore on Aug. 16, 1948. She survives with two sons, Mark, a student at the University of Illinois, and Paul Neal, at home; two brothers, George S. of South Bend and Clifford E. of Hammond, and three sisters, Mrs. Clement M. Miller, Mrs. Eugene L. Hill and Mrs. Robert J. Firth, all of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Wolfe-Airsman Funeral Home, Roodhouse. Rev. Arnold BeZutters, pastor of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will be in Fernwood Mausoleum, Roodhouse. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

 

Cressy was a graduate of Riley High School and Indiana University. A World War II Air Force veteran, he was past president of the American Legion and Rotary Club, both of Roodhouse. Memorials contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Roodhouse Methodist Church building fund.
