Sidney Alexander Cressy

SOUTH BEND – Sidney A. Cressy, 69, of 5119 Rowantree, Place, owner of Sid Cressy Realty, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital. He had been ill eight months. Borthn on Jan. 16, 1891, he was formerly employed in the sales department of the Oliver Corp. and the Studebaker Corp. for several years. He also served as assistant sales manager of the Mitchell Motor Co. in South Bend. In 1922 he opened the Cressy-Jordan Motor Co. in South Bend. In recent years he had been actively engaged in the real estate business. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, a member of the South Bend-Mishawaka Board of Realtors and a charter member of the Automobile Assn.

 

He married Marie E. Pearson in South Bend in 1913. She survives with three daughters, Mrs. Clement M. Miller, and Mrs. Eugene L. Hill Jr., both of South Bend, and Mrs. Robert J. Firth of Long Island, N.Y.; and three sons, George S. of Mishawaka, Clifford E. of Highland, Ind. and James C. of Roodhouse, Ill. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; a sister, Miss Fredice L. Cressy of South Bend, and three brothers, Clement and Ralph J., both of South Bend and Thornton A. of Hillsdale, Mich.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Walsh-Bilanco Colonial Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Jude’s Catholic Church, with Rev. John Szot, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
