Feb. 12, 1928 - April 16, 2013MISHAWAKA - Eugene F. Crook, 85, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Eugene was born on February 12, 1928, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Freeman and Bertha (Reifsnyder) Crook. On October 4, 1947, Eugene married the love of his life, Joan West. Joan preceded Eugene in death on July 8, 2012, after 65 years of marriage. Eugene graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1946 and worked for Kreamo Bakery for 22 years, and retired from Dodge Manufacturing in 1990. Eugene is survived by three children, Geni (Mike) Dial, Janis (John Juan) Crook and Jim (Cindy) Crook; six grandchildren, Anna (Andy) Hartman, Nick Hogman, Jessica (Shawn) Saros, Justin (Stephanie) Crook, Jenell (Ryan) Pogue, Joel (Travis) Johanson; eight great-grandchildren, Sam, Michael, Aubrey, Ashlyn, Olivia, Sam, Jayden, Tucker; and his Yorkie, Sara, who was always on his lap kissing his nose. Eugene's favorite pastimes were going to the casino, and he won a jackpot in Las Vegas in 1993, playing euchre at the Battell Center, and feeding birds and squirrels and planting his garden.
