Sister M. Cornelia Crowley CSC

Sister M. Cornelia CSC, died Sunday afternoon in St. Mary’s Convent after a prolonged illness. She was born in Seneca, Ill., in 1881, daughter of Conrnelius and Ellen Reilly Crowley. As Alice Ellen Crowley, she entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1911 and received the habit of the congregation that year. She made her profession of final vows in 1916.

 

During her community life Sister Cornelia was assigned to St. Mary’s Academy at Notre Dame; Sacred Heart Academy in Fort Wayne, and Hammond, and to Deming, N.M.

 

Surviving are a sister, Sister Mary Jerome, of the Sisters of Holy Cross; four nieces, Miss Eileen Crowley, Kansas City, Mo.; Miss Irma Crowley, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Margaret Martinis, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Margaret Smith, Scranton, Pa; four nephews, Dr. Bernard Crowley, Wichita, Kan., Dr. William O’Hearn, Worthington, Minn.; Dr. Jerome O’Hearn, San Antonio, Tex., and Francis Crowley, of South Dakota. 

 

Friend may call in the convent parlors. A Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 6 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church on the St. Mary’s campus. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.
