C. Mardell Crum

C. Mardell Crum, 84, of Willow Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 3:47 p.m. on Friday, March 26, in the home of her daughter, Martha Landick, following a brief illness. Mrs. Crum was born on Feb. 26, 1915, in South Bend, to David C. and Adele L. (Kratzsch) Raymond and was a lifetime area resident.

 

On March 28, 1937, in South Bend, as Mardell Raymond, she married Arthur C. Crum, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1989. She was also preceded in death by two sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Martha (Larry) Landick of South Bend; a son, Arthur C. (Helen) Crum, Jr. of Mishawaka, Ind.; four grandchildren, Caroline (John) McGaha of Knoxville, Tenn., Laura (Kevin) Pycraft of Greenville, Mich., Roberta (Chris) Darr of Granger, Ind., and Deborah (Gary) Pulling of Mishawaka; five great-grandchildren, Jessica McGaha, Micah and Jesse Pycraft, Ryan and Jenna Darr; and by several nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Crum retired for St. Mary's College in 1976 as a registered nurse after 40 years. She had also worked for several local doctors and had done private duty nursing prior to her retirement. She was a member of Community Congregational Church, Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association, American Turners Auxiliary, and St. Joseph Chapter of Order of Eastern Star #596.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Community Congregational Church with Rev. David Carlson officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Crumstown Cemetery, Crumstown, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Congregational Church or Hospice of St. Joseph County.
