Sister M. Nazarita CSC, 65, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday in the convent after a lengthy illness. As Julia Alice Culligan, she was born on April 13, 19*17 in Racine, Wis., and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s, coming from Chicago. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1936 and made he profession of vows on Feb. 2, 1938. She was a registered nurse, graduating from Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio in 1941. She received her bachelor degree in nursing from St. Mary’s College in 1942, and was nursing supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, and an instructor in Holy Cross School of Nursing. From 1954 to 1959 she was administrator at St. Joseph Hospital, an assistant administrator from 1966 to 1968, and served as administrator of Holy Cross Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. She was elected to membership in the American College of Hospital Administrators in 1965. Other assignments were served in St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Ind.; Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, Md.; and St. Mary’s Hospital in Cairo, Ill. She returned to St. Mary’s Convent because of failing health.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call today in St. Mary’s Convent parlor, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
