MISHAWAKA - Verdilla J. Custer, 68, of Wenger Street, died at 11:16 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Mrs. Custer was born June 26, 1925, in Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
On Nov. 28, 1946, in Chicago, as Verdilla J. Millin, she married James R. Custer. He died March 10, 1989. She is survived by two daughters, Diane S. Vernasco of Mishawaka and Marlene R. Fitzsimmons of South Bend; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Custer was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
