Francesco Cutugno

Francesco Cutugno, 84, of Eisenhower Avenue, died at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

 

He was born in Bovalino, Italy, on Dec. 4, 1916, and immigrated to America in June 1970.

Mr. Cutugno was a carpenter in Italy, and worked for White Farm Equipment from 1973 to 1978.

While serving in the Italian Army he was taken prisoner by the French Army in North Africa and was held for seven years.

 

Francesco was preceded in death by his parents, Domenico and Carmela (Marzano) Cutugno; and by a sister, Rosa Cutugno.

 

He married the former Maria Spano in Italy on July 26, 1947. She survives.

 

He is also survived by two daughters, Carmela (Francesco) Catanzariti of South Bend, owner of Francesco's Italian Restaurant, and Rosella (Bruno) Falcomata of Italy; two sons, Dominic (Filomena) Cutugno of South Bend, employed at Armando's Barber Shop, and Bruno Cutugno of South Bend, owner of Bruno's Landscaping; nine grandchildren, Maria (Jeff) Cheriff, Rocco Catanzariti, both of DuBay, Saudi Arabia, Frank and Joseph Catanzariti of South Bend, Frank Cutugno and Christina Cutugno, both of South Bend, Eleonora, Saverio and Chiara Falcomata, all of Italy; and by one great-grandchild, Jeffry Cheriff of Saudi Arabia.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m.

 

A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday in Little Flower Catholic Church where he was a member.

 

Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
