HELP ASKED FINDING CYTACK

CORRECTION (04/24/1994): SOUTH BEND -- An article in Friday's Tribune incorrectly spelled the name of Adam M. Cytacki, 21, of 1606 E. Madison St. Cytacki has been missing since Feb. 19, and South Bend police are asking for help in locating him.

SOUTH BEND - City police are asking for help in finding Adam M. Cytack, 21, of 1606 E. Madison St., who has not been seen by family or friends since Feb. 19.

Sgt. Albert DeRoo said Cytack and his father worked on his 1982 Subaru station wagon on Feb. 19 and his father reset the trip odometer.

Police found Cytack's car abandoned in the 200 block of East Navarre Street on March 19, red tagged it and impounded it on April 7. The car had 21 miles on the trip odometer when it was impounded and the key was in the ignition, police said.

DeRoo said Cytack had left home before but had always called after a few days to say where he was.

Cytack is described as a white man, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a green and purple shirt and black pants.

BODY OF MAN FOUND IN RIVER

SOUTH BEND - City police are investigating the cause of death of a man whose body was found in the St. Joseph River about 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

 

Investigators said the body is believed to be that of Adam M. Cytacki, 21, of 1606 E. Madison St.

 

Cytacki had been missing since his father last saw him Feb. 19, police said.

 

The body was taken to the morgue at Memorial Hosptial where an autopsy was scheduled for this morning to determine the exact cause of death.

 

Police did not say if they suspected foul play.

 

Lt. Edward Summers said the body was found by a man walking along the river bank near the 3700 block of Riverside Drive. The body was partially submerged in shallow water under a large tree limb that was resting in the water about halfway between the Darden boat landing and the Cleveland Road Bridge, police said.

 

The area where the body was found is heavily wooded.

 

Sgt. Albert DeRoo said Cytacki was last seen Feb. 19 after his father worked on his 1982 Subaru station wagon.

 

The car was found abandoned by police March 19 in the 200 block of East Navarre Street, about 150 feet from the river. DeRoo said the keys were still in the ignition and some of Cytacki's clothes were in the vehicle.

 

Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SOUTH BEND - A memorial service for Adam M. Cytacki, 21, of East Madison Street, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Joseph Church. Cremation will take place. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

City police are investigating the cause of death of Mr. Cytacki, whose body was found in the St. Joseph River about 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Cytacki was born Dec. 13, 1972, in Mishawaka, and was lifelong area resident. Surviving are his parents, James J. and Dawn C. of South Bend; a sister, Amber E. of South Bend; maternal grandmother, Milda Fox of South Bend; and a paternal grandmother, Adeline Cytacki of South Bend.

Mr. Cytacki attended St. Joseph's High School for two years and graduated from Morton Memorial High School, Knightstown, Ind. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.
