Sister Maria Renalta Daily CSC, 89, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday in her residence, She was born May 9, 1903 in Chicago as Mary Helen Daily. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s, on Feb. 6, 1926; was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1926; and professed her final vows on Aug. 151928. She was assigned to teaching in secondary  schools, and taught in Woodstock, Ill.; Morris, Ill. St. Joseph Academy and St. Hedwig School, both in South Bend. She was president of Saint Mary’s College from 1961 to 1965, and director of development from 1965 to 1968. She was professor of History at Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, Mass. from 1968 to 1972; and did historical research and writing until 1972. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday in the convent parlors, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
