Rosemary V. Dalkowski

SOUTH BEND - Rosemary V. Dalkowski, 84, of Walton Avenue, South Bend, died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Dalkowski was born Aug. 23, 1912, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. She was a former employee of the former Ferris Lombardy Nursing Home and the University of Notre Dame.

 

On Nov. 30, 1940, in South Bend, as Rosemary Beregiel, she married Casimir J. Dalkowski. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1981. Mr. Dalkowski was the former sexton of the St. Joseph Cemetery.

 

She is survived by two daughters; Helen Bruce of South Bend and Christine Winkler of Oklahoma City, Okla; six grandchildren; Jeff Starkweather, Donna Stopczynski, Debbie Wujcik, Russ Shankland, Jennifer Dalkowski and Joshua Jay; and one great-grandson, Brett Stopczynski. Preceding Mrs. Dalkowski in death was a daughter, Margaret Shankland who died in October 1988, a son, Louis Dalkowski who died in March 1977 and a grandson, Timothy Dalkowski who died July 31, 1975.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. There will be a rosary said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Dalkowski was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former member of the Rosary Society of Holy Family Catholic Church and of Crumstown Conservation Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of St. Joseph County or the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County.
