Norman D. Damp Sr.

GRANGER - Norman D. Damp Sr., 74, of Brick Road, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend, of natural causes. Mr. Damp retired in 1981 from Indiana Michigan Power Co., South Bend, after 35 years of service. He was born Dec. 26, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

 

On March 6, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fla., he married Leola Weatherford. She survives with a daughter, Francele E. Megan of South Bend; two sons, Norman D. Jr. of Granger and Dennis C. of South Bend; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Wilhelm of South Bend; and three brothers, Herman and Frederick ''Delbert,'' both of South Bend, and Robert of Middlebury. He was a veteran of World War II and a charter member of American Legion Post 360, Mishawaka, and a member of Calvary Temple, South Bend.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, where military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 360. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
