Indiana South Bend Tribune, St. Joseph County Deaths; January 23, 1897.

Mrs. Jennie Daniels.

Mrs. Jennie Daniels died 8 o’clock last evening in her apartments on North Michigan streets after a long illness.  The funeral will take place Wednesday from Patterson’s undertaking rooms, the Rev. H. Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating.

Mrs. Daniels had been the keeper of a home of ill repute for a number of years, but was reputed to be a charitable and honest woman in her business dealings.  Toward the end of her life she sent for a minister of the gospel and received the consolation of religion, professing penitence and praying earnestly for the pardon of her sins.  Mrs. Daniels has no relatives here and to her attorney expressed a desire that her identify should remain a secret.  Her aged stepfather, who has been dependent upon her for many years, was provided for by her before her death.
