James W. Daughtrey

NORTH LIBERTY - James W. Daughtrey, 81, of 405 S. State St., died at 1 p.m Saturday in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton. Mr. Daughtrey retired in 1979 as owner of Daughtrey Motors. He was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Marion, Ky.

On April 11, 1940, in Sturgis, Ky., he married Betty Ann James. She survives with a daughter, Jan A. Firtl of South Bend; a son, Richard J. of North Liberty; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Survivors include eight great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
