In Loving Memory of Mr. Fred Lee Davis

Fred Lee ''Freddie'' Davis, 55, of Miner Street, South Bend, Ind., expired on Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

He was born on April 12, 1944, in Shaw, Miss., to Laura and Evans, Sr. He was the second of eight children. His early years were spent in Mississippi with his grandmother, Julia Mae Sanders, while his parents relocated the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Evans Davis, Sr.; and by a brother, Thomas Davis.

Fred attended South Bend Central High School. In his junior year, 1966, he joined the United States Army. He later attended Bethel College, Mishawaka, Ind. Fred was an entertainer. He sang gospel with the male chorus at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. He was well known for his talent as a songwriter and singer. He performed solo and with various groups in the city.

In 1973 he married Barbara Forrest. From that union a son, Joseph Davis, was born. In 1987 he married Marilyn Kostry. In 1997 he married Patricia B. Parker. To that union two sons, Frederick Daniel and Thomas James Davis, were born.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Parker Davis; his sons, Frederick Daniel Davis and Thomas James Davis; two sisters, Diane (Joe) Perry of South Bend and Debra (Ruben) Wright of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; four brothers, Evans Davis, Jr., Leon Davis, Rev. Henry (Greta) Davis and Robert Davis, all of South Bend; a daughter, Monique Forrest of Cleveland, Ohio; a son, DeFrantz Forrest of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home.

Services will be at noon on Tuesday in the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is entrusted with the services.
