Rev. Ernest A. Davis, CSC, aged 66, instructor in chemistry at the University of Notre Dame, died Sunday night in St. Joseph Hospital after several weeks illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1883 in Jennings County, Indiana, and received his bachelor of arts degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1904. He also attended the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1909 at Notre Dame, and from that year until 1912 taught chemistry at Columbia University in Iowa. Until 1924, he taught at Notre Dame and then transferred to the University of Portland. Ore., where he taught until 1949. In that year he returned to Notre Dame to teach until his last illness.

 

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. T. I. Robbins of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Mrs. Hazel A. Hackett of Enned, Mass. Funeral plans have not been announced.
