Esther M. Day

Esther M. Day, 90 years old, residing on Mayflower Road in South Bend, passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 1999, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Bend from natural causes.

Mrs. Day was a homemaker, born on May 28, 1909, in Lakeville, IN, to the late Charles and Grace (Jackson) Howell. She remained a lifelong area resident.

On April 16, 1927, in South Bend, she married Harry F. Day, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1970. One sister, Irene Bunch, and one brother, Milo Howell, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy and Thomas E. Doyle of South Bend, and Dixie McMichael of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Timothy Doyle of Plymouth, Deborah Hurley of Chesterton, Cynthia Chmiel of West Lafayette, Chris McMichael of Osceola and Jeffrey McMichael of North Liberty; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 1999, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Rev. David Cross, pastor of the Lakeville United Methodist Church, will officiate.

 

Graveside services and burial will follow in Porter Rae Cemetery located in Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville.
